MARYSVILLE – It took four months, but Steve and Lynn Reids Whistle Stop Candy Shop finally had its grand opening April 20.

Dozens of people turned out for the event, as the store finally has its long-awaited fudge and ice cream.

Free samples were given out. One favorite that could become a signature sandwich there was a hot dog, bun, peanut butter, chocolate and whip cream. While some didn’t partake because the combination seemed odd, those who did promised to come back in the future for more.

The shop also plans to have other types of sandwiches in the near future. The store is on Third Street where the old city museum used to be.
