Pacific Rim, Let’s Dish! support each other’s businesses

Two local businesses have teamed up to try and beat the economic downturn together.

TULALIP — Two local businesses have teamed up to try and beat the economic downturn together.

The Pacific Rim Supper Club and Ballroom, adjoining the Tulalip Best Western Inn, has been open since March of this year. Let’s Dish! Marysville opened at 116th Street in 2005 and remained in operation there through August of this year. Jim and Victoria Mattson, co-owners of Let’s Dish! Marysville, closed their retail outlet and commercial kitchen in the wake of the recession, since their rent proved too expensive to afford on their reduced customer base. Because Let’s Dish! Marysville still has a number of customers, the Mattsons approached Cindy and Mark Langmas, co-owners of the Pacific Rim Supper Club, about using the Langmases’ commercial kitchen during the hours when it’s not in use.

“Our customers used to prepare and cook their own meals at our kitchen, with our ingredients,” Jim Mattson said. “Now, we do the cooking for our customers. The owners of the Let’s Dish! chain still let us use their recipes and Web site, and we pay rent to the Langmases to help with their expenses.”

Customers of Let’s Dish! Marysville can call or log onto its Web site to select and prepay for their meals. The Let’s Dish! Marysville Web site features descriptions, photos and nutritional information on all their meals. The Mattsons then typically contact their customers to ensure that their meals meet their specifications, before customers schedule times to pick up their meals at the Pacific Rim Supper Club. To increase local business cross-marketing, the Let’s Dish! Marysville Web site also links to recommended selections from WineStyles in Marysville, to go with each of its meals.

“Everybody’s business is struggling right now,” Cindy Langmas said. “Our Movable Feast Catering has been offering the Marysville Opera House deals on its food. The more that we all team up, the better the chances that we’ll all succeed.”
