Reset Games reschedules grand opening at Quil Ceda Village

TULALIP — Reset Games wasn’t quite ready for its scheduled Oct. 3 grand opening at Quil Ceda Village, but co-owners Dennis Hill and Kathy Varner expected to open their doors by Oct. 5.

Hill and Varner co-founded Reset Games in Bellingham in 2007 because they’re both parents of gamers. They wanted to provide an environment that would not only allow gamers to try out both new and used games before buying them, but also provide gamers’ parents with an in-store area of their own, set away from the gaming stations, where they could read or watch television on a flat-screen TV.

Reset Games’ six gaming stations at Tulalip will include beanbag chairs and flat-screen displays, an array of consoles to include Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3, and Nintendo Wii, and a separate station for more mature games. Varner explained that Reset Games hires only gamers, so that customers can ask any employee for information and know that they’re getting a gamer’s insights.

Reset Games allows customers to trade in their old video games for credit toward new and pre-owned products. To build its inventory of pre-owned games in Tulalip, Reset Games will buy them from the public.

“We’re different from most chain stores because our trade-in policy enables customers to stretch their dollars further,” Hill said. “If you or your child don’t play a video game any longer, you can trade it in and still afford another game.”

“We also have all the latest new releases for serious gamers at lower prices than all other stores,” Varner said.

Reset Games guarantees their games and offers trade-in periods of up to seven days after purchase for unopened new games, and 21 days for used games. It also refurbishes damaged games for $4, “except when severely wounded.”

Reset Games is located at 8825 34th Ave. NE, Suite D, just off Exit 200 on Interstate 5. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 360-653-8580 or visit www.resetgames.com.
