Vote for fire district funds

The Marysville Fire District has a ballot measure for your consideration this fall. Proposition 1 would lift the fire levy lid from the current $0.85 to $1.15 per thousand of assessed valuation.

Pride, honor and commitment are the standards of service at the Marysville Fire District. Frugality and careful budgeting have allowed the district to serve those standards without a fire levy rate increase since 1984. The district has responded to voter demands of accountability and conservative spending by carefully managing funds and working within a strict budget. These principles have provided our community with the best possible service at tax rates far below our neighboring jurisdictions.
The promise of Initiative 747 was that essential services which operated efficiently and demonstrated financial constraint would be able to ask their voters for the funds necessary to continue those essential services. The Marysville Fire District has met that obligation and we now ask you for your support. At $1.15 the District will still be well below the $1.50 of many local fire jurisdictions.
These new funds will not only continue existing levels of service, but also improve them. Approval will fund the construction of a new (fifth) fire station for our community, improving response times and levels of service throughout the district. Approval will also fund the addition of 20 firefighters to staff the new station and serve the community. Approval will ensure the district continues to deliver the right people, with the right equipment and training, right on time. Vote yes on Proposition 1.
