We incarcerate people, set them up to fail, and then complain about recidivism. We ignore poverty and all the other underlying causes of crime, then decide to be “tough” after the fact.
We imprison them for life if they snatch a purse or get into a brawl three times and then complain because we have no tax money left for crucial social services.
We build huge prison complexes to warehouse people and then wonder where the funds are coming from for our needed schools. We don’t bother to treat or try to rellabilitate the incarcerated, we just fill up those prisons faster than they can be built.
Do we see a complete lack of common sense?
