Where have all the

strawberries gone?

While I am new to Washington state and to the Marysville area, I was a bit confused at the Marysville Strawberry Festival this past Saturday at Asbery Field.

I wasn’t sure it was a Strawberry Festival. The only thing that had anything to do with strawberries was the shortcake eating contest. There were no fresh strawberries to buy, no strawberry pies, only one booth had t-shirts with strawberries on them.

It was a very strange experience. When I lived in California I attended the Gravenstein apple festival and was able to enjoy…well…apples in all forms – pies, fritters, caramel, salads even beer and cider, and was able to buy apples by the case.

Wondering why there were no strawberries at the Strawberry Festival?
