MARYSVILLE – ”Avenue Q,” the Tony Award-winning musical that’s been called “Sesame Street for adults” because many of the characters are puppets, runs Sept. 7-23 at the Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave. #J.

Part flesh, part felt and packed with heart, the laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a bright-eyed college grad named Princeton. When he arrives in the city with big dreams and a tiny bank account, he has to move into a shabby apartment on Avenue Q. He meets Kate (the girl next door), Lucy (the slut), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie Monster (the internet entrepreneur), superintendent Gary Coleman (yes, that Gary Coleman) and other new friends. Together, they struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

The play contains adult content and language and is not recommended for children under 12.

Directed by Scott B Randall with musical direction by Eric Bischoff, the cast includes David Naber as Princeton, Gina Wilhelm, Andrea Miner, Riley Fraser, David Henry, TJ Burzynski, Stefanie Van Rafelghem, Bill Kusler, Codie Wyatt-Clark, Erin Carter, Layton Gaskins, Monique Aldred and Dan Hanlon.
