Wold, Howell,

at Solovei

Janet Wold and Susie Howell, of Marysville, are showing their art in a show about trees at the Solovei Art Gallery in Everett. The show includes paintings and drawings, photography and sculptures, furniture and installations by more than 30 artists in an exhibit that runs through Dec. 29. “Trees are living things which sustain Life on Earth,” said gallery owner Lyussy Hyder. “The ‘green lungs’ help to clean our polluted air, they provide shelter, energy, food, clothes and more.” Solovei Art Gallery, is located at 2804 Grand Ave. in Everett and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Learn to make your own wreathe

Arlington Garden Club members will teach members and friends how to make their own holiday wreaths at the club’s Turn Your Thumb Green Workshop Dec. 13. The workshops are free to members but there is a charge of $3 for non members. Marysville seeks musicians for summer concerts

Musicians interested in playing in Marysville’s Sounds of Summer concert series next summer should send sample CDs and band profile information . The coordinator of the event, Maryke Burgess, manages the Ken Baxter Senior and Community Center for Marysville Parks and Recreation. The annual “Sounds of Summer” takes place mid July to mid August. The Friday concerts take place at 7 p.m. at Jennings Memorial Park and Thursday concerts are at noon at Comeford Park. Criteria include family friendly and “relatable to the general public,” high energy music, and something that will hold the audience and get them dancing, and willingness to work with a tight budget No mellow music.

Eagle float

Kids 6 and up and their parents are invited to enjoy an 8-mile, four-hour rafting adventure from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, amid the largest concentration of wintering Bald Eagles found anywhere within the lower 48 states on Skagit River, presented by Stream Keepers. Expect to see 20 to 200 eagles in their natural habitat, when David Button of the Pacific Northwest Float Trips and his team of experienced naturalist guides help spot the wildlifee. They also share information about bald eagles and the history and ecology of the Skagit River. No experience necessary. Cost is $60 per person.
