Summer art classes for kids
A variety of art classes are offered this summer by the Arlington High School art teacher, Bev Schatz, in the AHS art room, 18821 Crown Ridge, in Arlington. In the painting class offered July 6 – 8, students will design a color wheel and explore the method of painting with acrylic and watercolor paints. The morning class from 9 – 11 a.m. is for kindergarten through second-grade and for grades 3-5 the class runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cartooning and animation is offered July 13-15 and a glass art class designed for middle school students is
9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 30 and 31, when students will learn techniques of cutting glass, foil and soldering and color and design while making a suncatcher or two. Class fees are $55 and $65, and pre-registration is required at 360-403-3448.
Trent Tomlinson at BPAC Sept. 18
Country singer and songwriter Trent Tomlinson’s high energy performance will rock the Byrnes Performing Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 18. Presented by the Arlington Arts Council with financial support from the city of Arlington’s Lodging Tax Grant, Tomlinson’s recent hit, “Drunker Than Me,” has scored in the Top 20 country hit list. Other hits include “She Might Just Have Her Radio On,” “I was Gonna Leave Tomorrow Anyway,” and “One Wing in the Fire.” Many of his songs have been performed by artists such as Emerson Drive, George Strait and Sara Evans.
