I Vote Therefore I Am
Artists with works that express their political opinions are invited to display and sell their works at the Sisters Restaurant Sept. 7 to Nov. 2. Works will be judged on the bases of artistry, as well as political input, clearness of the message. Works, containing elements of bigotry, racism or insult won’t be accepted. Otherwise, curator is open-minded and fair to all political groups, parties and non-partisan’ voices. There is no limit of entries. Agreements and presentation requirements will be mailed upon acceptance of the entries. Commission from sales is 30 percent. Not for sale items are welcome. Only two-dimensional wall art is accepted at the restaurant. Send digital jpeg images sized 500 pix one dimension and include the medium, size and price of your works with “I Vote” in the subject line to lyussy@earthlink.net.
Early Learning
The Marysville Library will host an Early Learning Resources Open House on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the children’s area of the library. The event will include crafts and giveaways for children, demonstrations of library resources for early learning, information about the six essential pre-reading skills and dissemination of other community resources related to early learning. Sno-Isle Libraries will host Early Learning Resources Open Houses at all Sno-Isle community libraries. The open houses were organized by the Foundation for Early Learning, which partnered with libraries and other community organizations across the state. The Early Learning Open Houses will help parents, caregivers and interested residents learn about the many tools, books and activities available, many times at little or no cost. Sno-Isle has local libraries in Arlington, Darrington, Granite Falls, Marysville, Snohomish and Stanwood, as well as Mobile Services for the homebound and local daycares. Services and materials include 1.4 million items, reference services, electronic databases and computer equipment, Internet access, outreach programs for the homebound and local daycares and story times for children. Jam Sessions
Youth and adults of all abilities are invited to Village Music and Art’s Friday Music jam sessions featuring live music by Jon Dalgarn and Voices of the Village. Bring your own instrument or use ours. Jam sessions are every Friday, 1 – 3 p.m., at 338 North McLeod, Arlington. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
