Volunteers needed for Senior Citizen BBQ
The Ken Baxter Senior/Community Center of Marysville Parks and Recreation is looking for service groups and individuals to assist with its annual barbecue, Wednesday, Aug. 13. From 70 – 100 volunteers are needed from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to serve food and coffee, help with set-up and clean up. For information call KBSCC Manager Maryke Burgess 360-363-8450.

n Arlington’s Outdoor Cinema Seires begins Thursday, July 17 with Ghostbusters in Terrace Park, at 809 E. Fifth Street. The series continues with “Where the Red Fern Grows” on July 24 and “Grease” on July 31. The movie starts a dusk, courtesy the city of Arlington.
n In Marysville, the Outdoor Cinema Series continues with a film on Saturday, July 19 at Harborview Park, 4700 60th Ave. NE. and on July 26 at Strawberry Fields Athletic Park, 6100 152nd St. NE. Sounds of Summer offers Becky Foster and the A Band
and Incendio
Smokey Point business woman Becky Foster and the A-Band will perform at noon, Thursday, July 17 at Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave. in the Marysville Parks and Recreation’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series sponsored by Verizon FIOS, and the Latin fusion band Incendio is back by popular request on Friday, July 18, 7 p.m., at Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Rd. Outer Court
Community Jams
Rock Classix, Egyptian Pop Bellie Dancers and the Keith Bachman Band are scheduled to performe July 18 at the Community Jam Night at The Outer Court, 1519 Third St., in the parking lot next to Finders Keepers Furnishings in downtown Marysville.
Community Jams are from 7 to 10 p.m. every Friday in July and August.
Next week, on July 25, a classic rock band Indynile will be joined by Egyptian Cabaret Belly Dancing and Melody St. Clair, a girl with a guitar and a message.
Admission to the Outer Court is free with art projects for kids.
Barbecue supper of burgers, dogs, hot links and sausages plus fixings is available for $4 for adults and $2 for kids. Espresso, shakes and coffees are also on hand at The Carabinieri Bar near by.
Volunteers needed at Kayak Point
One of a few public beach access areas in north Snohomish County, Kayak Point County Park is going to be getting some much needed care in the year ahead and the Snohomish County Marine Resources Committee needs help from the public.
SCMRC is leading the effort to examine restoration options on the site which could include removal of the south loop roadway and bulkhead.
To prepare for this work, WSU Beach Watchers, Sound Stewards and other community members are invited to collect pre-restoration data. Monitoring elements will include taking elevation measurements along the beach and looking carefully at sediment types, beach shape, vegetation and alga cover. Monitoring days are scheduled for July 17, July 18, Aug. 1 and Aug. 16, from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
