ARLINGTON – Haiku poems, pictures of eagles and other works of nature art are being sought for the Arlington-Stillaguamish Eagle Festival Feb. 2, 2019. Cash prizes are awarded from the Arlington Arts Council. The Nature Haiku contest is open to Snohomish County residents. There are three ages groups. Entries must be received by midnight Jan. 28. Submit online at www.arlingtonwa.gov/haiku The eagle photography contest and nature art show is open to all ages and experience levels. Along with a $200 cash prize, the winning eagle photograph is printed on the Eagle Festival poster and displayed on the city’s website. Entry fee is $5 per photo. Artists also are encouraged to submit art depicting nature for the art show. A People’s Choice winner will receive $200. Categories are nature photograph, nature painting, mixed media and two youth age categories. The fee is $5 per piece. The children’s entry fee is a donation to the food bank. Chili Cookoff Feb. 2 raises funds for foundation
ARLINGTON – A Chili and Chowder Cookoff to support the Cascade Valley Health Foundation’s efforts in the Stillaguamish Valley will take place Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Station 46, 137 N. MacLeod Ave.
Cost to attend is $10 for 10 tastes. Hot dogs, soda, water and coffee also will be available.

Donations sought for Silvana Fair
SILVANA – Silvana Fair Board members are planning and seeking donated items for their annual auction to be held March 9 in the Viking Hall at 1331 Pioneer Highway.
The auction is the main fundraiser for the 72nd annual fair scheduled for July 27. The family oriented fair celebrates community spirit with exhibits, live music, food and vendors, while enabling local youth to practice showing their animals and livestock before judges ahead of larger fairs. Admission is free, and so is parking.
