Drug bust

ARLINGTON – Arlington police graveyard crew recently contacted some people suspected of illicit drug activity.

K9 Oso alerted to their vehicle and a subsequent search warrant was served earlier this week.

Officers seized drug paraphernalia, almost 5 grams of methamphetamine, 97 grams of heroin, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Charges on the suspects are pending.

3 on 3 roundball tourney Aug. 11-12

ARLINGTON – The 3on3 X-travaganza tourney returns to the north end of the Arlington Airport Aug. 11-12.

The tourney hosts more than 200 teams with multiple age and ability divisions, including: boys and girls grades 3 through high school, adult men and women, and senior and adult coed teams.

Elvis, Car Show event

SMOKEY POINT – The Stillaguamish Senior Center fundraiser Aug. 25 will features Elvis and a Classic Car Show.

Elvis impersonator Danny Vernon will perform as the ”King of Rock and Roll” with Marcia playing the role of Ann Margaret. The event kicks off at 3 p.m. with a car show in the Senior Center front parking lot and a silent auction in the center.

Elvis will enter the building beginning singing at 6 p.m.

Centennial Sk8 moved up a month

ARLINGTON – Longboard skaters will be rolling into Haller Park a month earlier than in the past for the 6th annual Centennial Sk8 Festival Aug. 18-19.

The races start that Saturday at 5 p.m. with an 8.5 mile uphill/downhill sunset event.

On that Sunday, there will be 5-kilometer sprint race and a 14.5 mile countryside race at 1 p.m., along with a free one-mile race for kids at noon.

About $1,500 in prizes will be awarded.

A Community Festival will take place on the 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be music, food, vendors, art, lawn games and a kombucha garden.
