ARLINGTON – The Arlington High School DECA program delivered food and other donations to families in need this week.

This is the 23rd year that DECA students have gathered donations for families. The students gathered donations at the Arlington Safeway and Wal-Mart from Nov. 17-Dec. 10.

Community members donated 20,000 food items and $7,200 in cash.

DECA advisor Tyler Payne was thankful for the success of the effort.

“Not only are you helping these families, but you’re teaching our students how important it is to give to those in need.”

Twenty-nine families were supported with the donations. One-third of the donations go to the families and the other two-thirds goes to the Arlington Food

Bank.

“It makes you feel good that families aren’t going to go hungry during the holidays,” sophomore Armando Garza said. “I feel good to be doing my part. This

has been a very eye opening and great experience.”
