ARLINGTON – Genesis Holdaway was just trying to help her great grandmother, but she received an award for it.
Genesis, 12, was with Janet Osborn at a park in Monroe when her great grandma fell and split her head open, grandma Kinder Smoots says in an email.
Genesis helped stop the bleeding then helped Osborn stay conscious while on the phone with 9-1-1. She then stayed with her in the emergency room, watching them put staples up the back of her head, Smoots says.
At Haller Middle School in Arlington Thursday, Genesis received a medal for bravery from Monroe Police Department Chief Jeffrey Jolley and officer Jake Carswell.
