“Glorious Journey, From Earth to
Eternity”
Mary Walker has experienced God personally — through the beauty of the mountains of the world. During one trip, especially, she experienced the power of God while sleeping on the shoulder of Mount Baker during an autumn storm.
An Arlington woman who has traveled in Nepal, and even adopted a Nepalese son, Walker is an active member of the Arlington First Baptist Church. She works as a substitute teacher, enjoys hiking, and is now the author of a book, “Glorious Journey, From Earth to Eternity.”
She took her favorite passages from the Bible and included them with images from her explorations of the world. She printed the passages in large type, for her elder friends.
“When we visit our friends in senior homes and ask them if they are reading the Bible, they often have said, ‘no because we can’t see the words’,” Walker said.
“My husband Bill suggested making a large-type book that they could read,” Walker said.
“So I wrote it.”
The book includes photographs by herself, by her brother, Keith Terrell, and by her 33-year-old son Daniel Walker to go with texts from the Bible.
Like on page 9, “My Name in God’s Mouth,” she used, is Revelation 13:8.
“It tells us that those whose names are written in the book of life will always worship God,” and refers to a poster at Kellogg-Marsh Elementary School by a 4-year-old boy named Billy, “When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.” Walker goes on to quote the Bible, “Even before He made the Heavens and the earth, He had your name written in His Book of Life.
The page concludes with a prayer, “Thank you Father, that You have always known my name.”
Opposite the page is a beautiful photograph of Mount Baker. The book’s images range from scenes of the sea and flowers in Skagit County, to cathedrals in England and trails to the tops of mountains in Washington to Nepal.
Walker had the book printed in Nepal, where her adopted son Shyam Katri lives. She calls her own publishing company Glory to Glory Printing. They printed 500 books and have received 200 so far, Walker said.

“Angel of Wrath”

A 1971 graduate of Arlington High School, Bill Myers has announced his 104th book, “Angel of Wrath,” will soon be released by Faith Words of Hachette Book Group. Myers studied theater arts at the University of Washington and earned a doctorate degree in theology from a college in Nimes, France in 2000.
“My new novel takes place in and around Arlington, including Getchell Hill and Sisco Heights where I grew up.”
His first novel that was also set in this area, “Blood of Heaven” sold 110,000 copies.
“I’m hoping lightning will strike twice,” Myers said, adding that his supernatural suspense novels do not read as religious propaganda nor is it evangelical.
“I just like exploring God,” he said.
As a writer and a director, Myers’ has won more than 40 national and international awards including the C.S. Lewis Honor Award. He has sold more than 8 million books and videos.
