MARYSVILLE — Marysville artists Joan Grout and Gene Cyrus are among seven artists who will be honored at a reception at the Marysville Library Dec. 11, when Sno-Isle Libraries along with the Marysville Library Board and Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation celebrate several acquisitions of art this year.

Camano Island artist Jack Archibald and Chaim Bezalel and Yonnah Ben Levy of Stanwood will also be there along with the Port Townsend artists Sarah Ohman-Ybarra Lopez and Mark Twain Stevenson and youth intern Ruby Ohman, who created seven bronze sculptures of a “Library Cat” that are scattered around the library.

The reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Marysville Library at 6120 Grove St. in Marysville.

The seven artists who have contributed art to the library’s permanent collection in 2008 will be on hand to meet members of the community and talk about their work.

n “Library Cat” by Sarah Ohman-Ybarra Lopez and Mark Twain Stevenson was made possible by the Gellerson Bequest and the Friends of the Marysville Library.

n A glass mural adorning the library’s entryway, “Dewey Digital” was created by Jack Archibald was made possible by the Gellerson Bequest and the Friends of the Marysville Library.

n “Snowfall on Skykomish” is a framed mixed media painting donated by Chaim Bezalel and Yonnah Ben Levy of Stanwood.

n “Children at Storytime” by Gene Cyrus was purchased by the Friends of the Marysville Library

n “Rhododendron Diptych” by Joan Grout was purchased by the Friends of the Marysville Library.
