Snohomish — The medium of pastels is gaining great favor these days, and the Arts of Snohomish is exhibiting some of the best, through April 30.
The show offers more 40 pieces of pastel art from six Northwest artists who are all members of the Northwest Pastel Society.
Images range from Northwest landscapes and still-lifes using the vibrant colors that pastels can produce. The show also includes a few oil paintings.
An Artist Reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
“Delicate Yet Vibrant Art” is a group show featuring painters from dyVa, which is a specialized group from the Northwest Pastel Society, including Claire Ridlon of Woodinville, Diane Steele of West Seattle, Debby McGehee of Mukilteo, Jane Mayer of Shoreline, Janis Graves of Edmonds and Susan Dawson of Snohomish.
“This is a wonderfully colorful show worth seeing,” said the gallery director, Gail Glasgow.
Paintings with titles like “Hurricane Ridge,” “Forest Glow,” “Graceful Lines,” “Meadow” and “Potholes Area” capture the subtle colors of the natural Northwest environment.
Arts of Snohomish Gallery is owned and operated by community-minded artists who partner with local businesses and organizations for the benefit of the residential and business communities of Snohomish.
Located in the Carnegie Building, 105 Cedar Ave., on the corner of Cedar Avenue at the east end of First Street in historic downtown Snohomish, parking and admission are free.
Arts of Snohomish Gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Seeking new members
Arts of Snohomish Gallery is currently seeking new member artists. This is a good opportunity to show and sell your art and learn the gallery business. In addition to its regular membership program, the gallery also offers a new limited membership program. The limited membership program is designed for artists who work full time at their day jobs, but still want to participate in the gallery.
With the limited membership program, artists receive an eight-foot by eight-foot panel or wall, pay $75 per month and a 40 percent commission on work sold, and don’t have to work any shifts. For more information about this program, please visit the website or call the gallery.
