MARYSVILLE – The Grove Church is expanding.
This year its Block Party at Liberty Elementary School isn’t the only one.
It is also having one Wednesday at Grove Elementary, at 6510 Grove St. And, after a private one in Tulalip Thursday, it will have another public one Friday at Shoultes Elementary, 13525 51st Ave.
All are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It also is having one Saturday at Snohomish and that is really the most significant one as the Grove Church is expanding and starting a new church in a school in Snohomish starting in late August.
Volunteer Carol Telschow said reaching out is part of the church’s mission.
“To love God, connect with each other and serve all” is our motto, she said.
At Tuesday’s Block Party, the Marysville Fire District was there as always, but some police also were present “to help everyone feel safe,” Telschow said, adding they brought in a few other new things, such as sponge necklaces and a giant Jenga game.
Cash Hura, 10, of Granite Falls liked another new event – a water balloon sling shot. He was helped by two church youth members.
“Our kids are here to serve, too,” Telschow said.
