MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Arts Council’s inaugural “It’s Raining Art” event is set to showcase the work of local artists from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26.
Live music from local performers and chances to sample craft beer, wine and spirits will also mark the group’s first art-centric show at 1347 State Ave. in Marysville, in the former Oroweat Bakery outlet store.
Among the art pieces on display and available for purchase will be decor and jewelry made of fused glass, woodcrafts and gourd carvings, as well as fabric pillows, paintings and other wall-hangable artwork.
Hand-pressed cider will be available alongside craft beer from Diamond Knot Brewing, wines from Willis Hall Winery and vodka from Dark Moon Distillery for samples and purchases, with complimentary appetizers provided.
Attendees will be able to enter a raffle, and to suggest the Marysville Arts Council’s focus by voting on various project ideas. The Marysville Arts Coalition has organized two city-wide art projects, by selling the holiday wreaths and springtime umbrellas that adorned the streets of Marysville.
Marysville Arts Council Chair Beckye Randall hopes to conduct “It’s Raining Art” shows several times a year, to showcase local artists, artisans, craftsmen and musicians for no admission fee, thereby helping to make Marysville a more “vibrant, energetic community” in the process.
Sample taste tickets for beverages are $2 each. For more information, log onto www.facebook.com/MarysvilleArts or email Randall at brandallrcf@gmail.com.
