The Arlington Arts Council has announced two $100 cash rewards for art in an art show to be held in conjunction with the Arlington Eagle Festival. While the festival is one day only, Saturday, Feb. 7, the art show will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Feb. 5, 6 and 7 across the street, at 233 N. Olympic Ave, the former Arlington Times office. The winner of the eagle photo contest coordinated by the Eagle Festival committee will receive $100 and the winner of the wildlife art contest will win $100. The art show will include both the eagle photographs and wildlife art, an art project for children, and free refreshments on Saturday, courtesy the Arlington Kiwanis Club. For the Wildlife Art Show, artists must deliver framed art in any media or three-dimensional works that feature any kind of wild critters to 233 N. Olympic from 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4. The artworks must be labeled with the title, price, media, artist name and phone number. Artists must plan to pick up their art from 11 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Feb. 8. Photographs of eagles must be 8-inches-by-10-inches minimum and delivered to Sarah Hegge in the Mayor’s Office at City Hall by Feb. 4. Photographs should be matted and ready to hang. There is no entry fee, but the AAC will collect 10 percent off all sales made. AAC members will expand the show with individual displays in the back of the Wildlife Art Show. Juicing for

beginners

Pam Koons will teach you how to prepare, blend and juice a variety of fruits and vegetables into tasty, healthy drinks in a class offered through the city of Arlington’s Recreation Program. The class is for adults and teens 14 and older from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Community Room at the Boys and Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, in Arlington. Mr. McFeely visits Marysville Library

Mr. McFeely from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, a.k.a. Speedy Delivery Man, will be telling stories, playing games and puppets at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., at 10:15 a.m., Jan. 26 in a partnership between the King County Library System and Sno-Isle Libraries. Acoustic Blues Duo

Randy Norris and Jeff Nicely, of the former Blues Therapy group, are featured at Blue Friday Jan. 23 at the The Mirkwood & Shire Café, 117 E. John Vistaunet in ‘Go Figure’

A new exhibit at The Sisters Restaurant in Everett, “Go Figure” features sketches, studies and paintings exploring the fine art of nudes by a group of artists which includes Marysville’s John Vistaunet along with Liana Bennett, Tom Jensen, Irina Milton and Ken Smith.

The show includes quick gesture drawings of male and female models, which artists use as reference for their future refined art works. The co-curator in the exhibit, Ken Smith, hosts life-drawing sessions at his studio. The group of artists in the exhibit are regular participants in these sessions. The artists will display works from their sketch books, studies in graphite, oil, pastel, ink, and conte, and the works based on their life-drawings in oil and pastel paintings, etchings, collage and mixed media paintings.

RV club meets in Marysville

The Everett RV & Trailer Club will meet 7 p.m Jan. 27 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 7215 51st St. and visitors are welcome. The club will be planning spring outings. For information call 425-334-2919.

• Anacortes Community Theatre has announced auditions for “Nunsense” will be held at Anacortes Community Theatre 10th and M in Anacortes from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday Jan. 24 and from 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25. • META Performing Arts presents an audition workshop on Thursday, Jan. 22 at the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 1511 Broadway, across from Skagit Valley Hospital. The workshop will run from 6 – 8 p.m. Interested parties are encouraged to call 360-466-3072 to pre-register, as there is a limited number of spots available. The cost is $30 per person. Auditioners are asked to bring a song and/or a monologue to work on with director Joe Bowen. Auditions will be held January 28 and 29 the musical will be presented at McIntyre Hall, May 1-10.

Skagit Symphony presents family concert

Maestro Shakarian, Music Director for the Skagit Symphony, will focus on the team effort of the musicians during the symphony’s annual Family Concert 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 at McIntyre Hall in Mount Vernon. The one-hour Family Concert is appropriate for children age three and above and features music from Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra. Maestro Shakarian uses this piece to show how musicians communicate with each other while playing as a team. Also being performed is Cecile Chaminade’s Flute Concertino, which spotlights the flute. The concert concludes with selections from Bizet’s L’Arlesienne Suite No.1, the Prelude a! nd Carillon movements, which highlight several instruments and sections of the orchestra’s team members – the saxophone and the harp in the Prelude and the French Horns in the Carillon. To make these works more relevant for a youthful audience, Maestro Shakarian adopts a persona similar to the late Leonard Bernstein.

Music related hands-on lobby activities are being provided prior to the performance by the Children’s Museum of Skagit County and Kindermusik by Maura.
