MARYSVILLE — After a one-year hiatus last year, the city of Marysville invites residents and visitors alike to the return of its annual “Touch a Truck” event Sept. 11.

Totem Middle School will host the big rigs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Asbery Field, located at 1605 7th St. NE. Admission is free.

“Touch a Truck” puts children in the drivers’ seats of Marysville’s heavy-duty vehicles that those kids see out on the streets every day.

Marysville Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Police Department and Fire District personnel will be on hand to bring young people face to face with their favorite vehicles. Kids will be able to explore dump trucks, garbage trucks, a vactor truck, a street sweeper, police vehicles, fire engines and many other vehicles, while learning about them from the skilled drivers and employee crews themselves.

“So come out and run the lights and sirens, honk the horns and kick the tires at ‘Touch a Truck,'” city Recreation Coordinator Andrea Kingsford said. “Remember to bring a camera.”

The Marysville Noon Rotary Club and Camp Fire USA will offer activities for kids, and the Marysville Kiwanis Club will have tasty treats for sale to raise money for local youth programs.
