CAMANO ISLAND — Lance Carleton, of Sunnyside, will be the featured artist at Islander’s Restaurant, 848 N Sunrise Blvd. on Camano Island in December, coordinated by Seagrass Gallery.

The show features Carleton’s indoor and outdoor sculptures in steel, copper and brass, both new and recycled materials, through December.

Carleton finishes each piece with a natural patina, a brushed finish, or a pigment. Some pieces are made to be durable with an infinite life, while others are more fragile, and intentionally wear with the ravages of time.

After a career in the restaurant business and continuing side jobs in metal working, Carleton finds joy in creating art out of the materials he finds in the world around him.

“To create an artistic expression from the materials around me is the highest of honors, and I am pleased to have the opportunity to do this each day,” Carleton said.

Along with the exhibit at the restaurant, Carleton’s work is included in many other artists at Seagrass Gallery at the Camano Plaza, at 370 N. East Camano Drive. Both are just a few minutes west of Stanwood on Camano Island.
