farm festival
Mike McCroirie of Lavender Hills Farm is helping plan Snohomish County’s fall farm festival, “Farming Yesterday and Today” and he has announced the next meeting is 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, at 18513 59th Ave. NE, near the Arlington Airport. Rock the Library
Teens are encouraged to be loud at a special after-hours teen event at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., starting 7 p.m., Friday, May 16.
Organizers are looking for the best talent out there and prizes will be awarded for the Best Lip Sync, Best Air Guitar, Best Dance, Best Costume, and Best Overall Performance. Night of the Arts
Darrington High School has announced a Night of the Arts from 7 to 9 p.m.,
Friday, May 16 in the Darrington High School Auditorium. High school artists from will be selling their art work along with the industrial arts classes who will show finely crafted products while musicians and the drama department will perform throughout the high school. The event will be catered by the illustrious foods department. There will be a drawing table for youngsters and lots of prizes distributed.

May Hunt with a twist
The May Hunt on Saturday, May 17 is presented by Downtown Arlington Business Association. The twice-annual treasure hunt features new and used items in the newly paved city parking lot adjacent to Legion Park. with a sidewalk sale where downtown merchants and business owners are encouraged to bring their stuff out onto the street for a day of fun on the new Olympic Avenue in downtown Arlington from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To top if all off, the Arlington Garden Club will be selling plants at the City Hall Plaza all day too. For information call

Dodgeball tournament
The second annual Soccer First Charity Dodgeball Tournament will be held Sunday, May 18, at the indoor soccer stadium, Soccer First, 19805 74th Ave. N.E., in Arlington.
A youth tournament for ages 7-14 begins at 10 a.m. and the adult tournament for those 15 and up begins at 2 p.m. The teams need six players and can be co-ed, according to Bill Kmet, of the Arlington Rotary Club, which is coordinating the event.
“Phil Bartlow at Soccer First is offering the facility at no charge,” Kmet said, “so that all proceeds will benefit the causes.” Prizes will be award to game winners and for best costumes, too.
Entry fee is $5 per person plus one nonperishable food item for the Arlington Food Bank. Beneficiaries are the food bank and Kids’ Kloset.

Art for Mountain Loop
June 4 is the deadline for artists to apply to be included in an art show that celebrates the beauty of the Mountain Loop Experience.
Organizers of the grand opening celebration are seeking arts and crafts for an art fair to celebrate the reopening of the Mountain Loop Highway in June. Grants for graduating artists
The Greater Marysville Artists’ Guild has announced the deadline is May 15 for applications for grants-in-aid and scholarships in the visual arts. Applicants must submit at least five photographs of their work, identifying the medium and year completed. In addition to examples of work, graduating high school seniors accepted into a recognized art program must submit a letter stating grade point average and describing art training, experience and goals; a letter of acceptance from an art school or college; and a letter of recommendation from a teacher.
Adult artists should submit a letter of intent that includes a biography, a description of the class, workshop or seminar they wish to take and goals to be accomplished.
Finalists may be asked to meet with the selection committee to present original work. Scholarships or grants must be used within one year of the award unless exceptions are arranged in advance.
