MARYSVILLE – All of the schools in the Marysville district honored students at a Family Dinner Night at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
“We wanted to express the importance of eating together as a family and reading with our children,” district spokeswoman Emily Wicks said Wednesday.
Children who eat family dinners do better in school, research shows.
The idea for the event came from the district’s Parent Advisory Council. “We too often wait until the end of the year to celebrate our kids and families – but you really can’t celebrate kids enough,” Wicks said. “It’s important that students are recognized for their achievements throughout the year, as it can go a long way toward encouraging them to work hard and continue to succeed.”
Each principal and school had different reasons for honoring their students.
