The Marysville Strawberry Festival Talent Show struggled to contain 30 performing acts on a single stage. The Marysville-Pilchuck High School auditorium hosted more than two hours of competition that kicked off at 6:30 p.m. on June 16.
Although local strawberries are late, that isn’t stopping Biringer Farm located on the Red Rooster Route at 21412 59th Ave NE, Arlington from opening the farm gates on June 18 and 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the farm’s Annual Strawberry Harvest Festival.
MARYSVILLE — Local families looking to adopt healthier lifestyles were able to learn and stay active in the summer sun without even a cloud in the sky this year.
The annual Healthy Communities Challenge Day returned to the fields of Allen Creek Elementary on June 10, drawing an estimated 3,000 attendees and registering 764 people for the Get Movin’ summer fitness incentive program. City of Marysville Recreation Coordinator Andrea Kingsford noted that this was about the same size as last year’s crowd, and that they were able to visit close to 75 exhibitors on site this year.
MARYSVILLE — The 80th annual Marysville Strawberry Festival is picking up the pace with its culminating weekend.
As so many Sunday services are, it was a day of reflection, celebration, laughter and remembrance for the congregation of the Marysville United Methodist Church.
What made June 12 different from any other Sunday service at the church for the past 11 years was that it would be Dr. Tom Albright’s last one as pastor.
Lily Rotunno is no stranger to cancer.
Her father had prostate cancer, her mother had breast cancer and her sister was diagnosed with skin cancer.
“We’re hoping she caught it in time,” Rotunno said. “That’s why you should check for any unusual moles.”
On May 21, she was joined on the Asbery Field track by another cancer survivor who’s close to her heart.
Marysville’s annual street fair, HomeGrown, is accepting applications for artists, craftspeople, food vendors, and local producers of farm products and flowers.
HomeGrown 2011 will take place Aug. 12-13 on Third Street. Booth space for both days is currently $70, with prices increasing and availability decreasing the nearer it draws to the event.
In spite of gray skies and a bit of drizzle, the second annual “Cruzin for a Cure” car and bike show beat out last year’s registration numbers.
“As of noon, we had 61 entrants registered,” said Mark Lilgreen, team captain for the event. “We only had 50 last year, but it was pouring rain that year.”
Community Transit services will not operate on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. It is one of six major holidays on which the agency does not provide service.
The observance of Memorial Day will once again be commemorated by the members of Marysville American Legion Post 178 with a ceremony and a meal.
