MARYSVILLE — Moses “Mose” Davis will reach a landmark on Jan. 22, and his family hopes all his friends will help him celebrate it.
Mose was born in Paintsville, Ky., on Jan. 22, 1911, and 100 years later to the day, the Davis family home will serve as the site for his centennial birthday, from 1-4 p.m.
MARYSVILLE — The Marysville School District will be conducting another information night for Spanish-speaking parents and parents of English Language Learner students on Jan. 26.
The MSD Board room at 4220 80th St. NE will serve as the site for the meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. According to Wendy Messarina, the ELL multilingual parent/community Spanish liaison for the school district, these ELL family info nights will be held every two months from now on.
TULALIP — The 2011 Marysville/Tulalip Relay for Life isn’t until this summer, but Relay organizers aim to give the community a “Taste of Relay” Jan. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Pacific Rim Restaurant and Night Club, adjoining the Tulalip Best Western Inn.
MARYSVILLE — Ticket sales start on Jan. 10 for the sixth-annual Father/Daughter Valentine’s Dance, and while the event is once again set to be split up into two evenings in February with two dances each, city of Marysville Recreation Coordinator Andrea Kingsford warned that those interested in attending shouldn’t wait to purchase their tickets.
“It’s really popular,” Kingsford said of the dances, which take place from 5:30-7 p.m. and from 7:30-9 p.m. on both Feb. 5 and 12, in the Cedarcrest Middle School cafeteria, at 6400 88th St. NE. “You’ll want to reserve your tickets early, because they sell out every year and they’re not sold at the door.”
BELLEVUE — A Marysville girl will get to shine in the spotlight in an area adaptation of a much-beloved holiday classic.
Chloe O’Loughlin, 11, will play the part of Clara in Ballet Bellevue’s production of “The Nutcracker,” which will also feature a live orchestra playing Tchaikovsky’s score.
MARYSVILLE — Community members who would like assistance from the Marysville Community Food Bank and Toy Store must be registered with the Marysville Community Food Bank no later than Dec. 10.
Community members are now able to sign up online for Marysville Parks and Recreation programs, classes and activities under the new Marysville ePlay online registration system which began Dec. 1. With just a few clicks of the mouse, Marysville residents can register day or night for classes offered through the Marysville Parks and Recreation Department.

For Ron Southworth the most important value championed by his church is that of hope.
Southworth is the president of the newly created Arlington stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he recalled a recent dinner he’d conducted with the mayors of Arlington and Marysville, as well as with officials from various area school districts, to discuss problems facing their communities.
