MARYSVILLE – Red Curtain Productions presents an original adaptation of “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” at its arts center, 9315 State Ave. #J (behind Goodwill) for three weekends Dec. 2-18, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
“Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” is the world premiere of a campy treatment of a 1960s “B” movie of the same name that is somewhat a cult classic. Marysville’s Nick Poling and Alex DeRoest of Snohomish have written and are directing the play.
In it the Martian Council is worried that their children are too studious and have forgotten how to have fun, so they kidnap Santa to bring merriment to the Red Planet. With flying saucers, dancing elves, “Mad Max”-style Martian warlords, and a murderous robot, this Christmas play is unlike any other.
Ticket prices are $17 for adults and $14 for seniors, students and military personnel. The show is not recommended for children under 10.
Tickets are available online at brownpapertickets.com, or by calling 360-322-7402.
