MARYSVILLE – Red Curtain Foundation presents the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning “Lost in Yonkers,” running April 19-May 5 at the Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave. #J.

“Lost in Yonkers” by Neil Simon, America’s great comic playwright, introduces us to the Kurnitz family. Bella is 35, mentally challenged, and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz.

As the play opens, desperate son Eddie deposits his two young sons on the old lady’s doorstep. After losing his wife to cancer, he is in debt to a loan shark and forced to take to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with grandma, with Bella and her secret romance, her brother Louie, a small-time hoodlum, and sister Gert, whose childhood trauma manifests in a speaking impediment.

Over the course of the play, the young boys learn lessons about love, responsibility and the importance of family that will carry them into adulthood. The show is rated PG.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $15 for seniors (62+), students and military personnel.
