ARLINGTON- Two middle and two high school students were recognized Nov. 30 by the Rotary Club of Arlington for making a difference in their respective schools. The Rotarians donated $50 to a charity of the student’s choice.
Zeke Basher from Arlington High School was recognized for being a critical component of the Student Leadership program. “Zeke is polite, fun, energetic and always willing to get things done,” Principal Duane Fish said. Zeke’s $50 contribution will be made to Children’s Hospital.
Myranda Ritchie from Weston High School encompasses everything that’s great about the school. “Myranda leads by positive example, demonstrates strong work ethics, and is kind toward all people,” Weston counselor Katy Brown said. Myranda’s $50 contribution will be made to Youth Dynamics.
Grace Saenz from Haller Middle School works to make Haller the best place it can be. “She understands the meaning of servant leadership and is willing to pitch in wherever she can, whether it is to create a slide show for the Veterans Day assembly, do makeup for the ‘Haller’ween Haunted Maze, or clean and pack the ASB room for a better-organized space,” Haller teacher Tammy Christmas-Harris said. Grace’s $50 contribution will be made to Operation Warm.
Haller Middle School student Trent Nobach regularly helps others without being prompted. “Trent volunteers to help tutor others, quietly gives positive support to classmates and teammates who are struggling, and commits to helping build a positive leadership program at Haller,” Haller assistant principal Sally Schroeder said. Trent’s $50 contribution will be made to the Arlington Food Bank.
