MARYSVILLE — Scrub-a-Mutt is returning to the Strawberry Fields for Rover dog park to continue its support of local pooches.
Scrub-a-Mutt’s fourth annual fundraising Dog Wash runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 20 at the Strawberry Fields Athletic Park, located at 6100 152nd St. NE. Strawberry Fields for Rover will be completely open that day.
Suggested donations for dog washing are $5 for small dogs and $10 for large dogs. Raffle tickets will be on sale for a variety of gift baskets. Certified groomers and vet techs will be taking donations of $5 for nail trims. The first 350 dogs washed will receive a “doggie goodie bag” including a $10 gift card from Pet Pros. There will also snacks and beverages on sale.
In addition to the dog washing, there will be vendor booths with dog-themed businesses and a wide array of dog rescue groups on site, including Pasado’s Safe Haven and Seattle Purebred Rescue.
“We are thrilled to have so many breed-specific rescue groups attending our event this year as vendors,” said Elizabeth Woche, co-director of Scrub-a-Mutt. “Dalmatian Rescue, Chihuahua Rescue and Basset Hound Rescue are just a few of the great organizations that will be on hand.”
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Department will be putting on a K9 demonstration at 4 p.m. Deputy Fortney and K9 Deputy Bruno will teach attendees about these dogs and their job as both law enforcement officers and pets.
Scrub-a-Mutt raises money for three local dog rescue organizations — Old Dog Haven, NOAH and the Everett Animal Shelter.
Old Dog Haven is a nonprofit dog rescue group in Arlington that provides loving and safe homes for abandoned senior dogs. Their website and outreach program finds “forever homes” for dogs seven years or older.
NOAH is the animal adoption center located in Stanwood. NOAH works toward stopping the euthanasia of healthy adoptable dogs and cats and promotes a strong spay/neuter program. They partner with local shelters, providing pets a second chance for a home. Both Old Dog Haven and NOAH will be on site with adoptable dogs.
The Everett Animal Shelter and ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) care for lost or unwanted pets from most of Snohomish County. Their staff and volunteers work to prepare unwanted animals for adoption. ARF’s mission is to improve the quality of life for companion animals and their caretakers in Snohomish County through increased community involvement and fundraising with and for the Everett Animal Shelter.
