Special Seahawks paint job
MARYSVILLE – There are a few others around town, but this one looks like the kind of car Russell Wilson would be driving. But it’s not. It’s Rick McCarthy of Marysville. McCarthy, 37, and friends Jimmy “Buffet” Kollman, Tanya DeClusin and Brian Cornwell have spent more than 1,700 hours air-brush painting a 2007 Dodge Charger in a Seattle Seahawks theme. On the top of the car is a giant “12”. On the hood is a helmet, Space Needle and Century Link field. On the back is a football field that McCarthy hopes some Seahawk players will autograph some day. On both sides there are Seahawk birds with a streak behind them. There’s even a painting under the hood of Marshawn Lynch (Beast Mode) stomping on a 49ers helmet. Just the blue rims took 40 hours each to paint. The paint job is worth more than the car, so McCarthy has insured it separately. It’s all hand-airbrushed, no decals or stickers. “You can’t feel the artwork,” he said, adding it blends right into the rest of the paint job.
