MARYSVILLE – Just in time for Halloween, Red Curtain will be performing the ghostly “Blithe Spirit,” including spooky stage effects.
The play will open Oct. 20 and run through Nov. 5.
In the play novelist Charles Condomine, a wealthy socialite, invites the eccentric medium Madame Arcati to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is then haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles’s marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost. The cast of local actors includes Robert Ian Stratton as Charles; Brianne Green as Ruth; Melanie Stagner as Elvira; Jeannine Early as Madame Arcati; David Bailey as Dr. Bradman; Danette Meline as Mrs. Bradman and Gilly Kelleher as Edith. Joe Goins is the director.
The sophisticated supernatural comedy written by Noel Coward is Red Curtain’s second show of the season. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 and Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave, Suite J. Tickets are $18 for adults, $7 for kids 12 and younger.
