MARYSVILLE – Residents are being asked to participate in a survey on whether they want the city to produce a public event for the 4th of July.
The survey provides a range of potential event types and estimated costs in tax dollars. Their most expensive option would be an evening live concert followed by a professional fireworks show at the high end with an estimated cost of up to$50,000. Other potential options include a community picnic with family activities, a patriotic ceremony or a live concert, which can be produced at lower cost without a fireworks show.
Residents can take the survey online through late February. Results will be tallied and forwarded to the city’s 4th of July Event Committee in March. That committee is expected to develop a recommendation for consideration by the City Council this spring.
