A series of well-travelled Seattle- and Arlington-based performers will be bringing their unique talents to the Arlington stage, hoping to amaze local audiences.
“It’s kind of a homecoming,” said the show’s assistant coordinator, Katy Webber.
The July 18 show will be held at the Performing Arts Center at the old Arlington High School, with the facility’s rental benefitting the Arlington Boys & Girls Club. While the club is not a sponsor of the performance, the show’s organizers said that they hope some ticket proceeds might also benefit the club.
The show features vaudeville performers, illusionists and simply entertainment of the bizarre.
R. Chumleigh headlines the show. A reverend, Chumleigh has performed weddings, including several on tightrope. But for the local show, the vaudevillian and satirist may take to the stage with his partner, Brody, Dog of the Future, who Chumleigh claims is the only dog with a Ph.D. in economics, according to a release.
Also on the bill is the 19-year-old Nash, a magician with a proclaimed talent for mind reading. His show combines sleight-of-hand illusions with comedy and often interacts with his audience.
Captain Trendo and the Blue Collar Cult endures life-threatening and painful stunts to raise questions in the mind of his audience. Trendo claims to seek what is new and little understood, bringing a form of bizarre entertainment to wide audiences. He seizes upon comedy and music for his show, fusing together dissimilar pairs like opera and hip-hop.
Moz Wright completes the bill, descended from a line of acrobats and illusionists, bringing his fire- and sword-swallowing act to Arlington.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, active military/veterans and $5 for children.
“We got the idea because we wanted to find a venue in Arlington that would meet our needs, just a larger venue to hold a bunch of performers,” Webber said. “We found out that the Arlington Boys and Girls Club was in need of help for the summer regarding their summer camps.”
