MARYSVILLE — The Marysville YMCA’s annual “Invest in Youth” campaign is bringing a Zumba-thon to the YMCA, March 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Zumba is a fitness program inspired by Latin dance, and attendees of the March 7 Zumba-thon can attend one or more, or all four, of the Zumba classes taking place at the YMCA that day, including Zumba from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Zumba Gold from 12:45-1:15 p.m., Zumba Family from 1:30-2 p.m. and Zumba Fiesta from 2-3 p.m.
Attendees’ donations not only let them take part in the activity, but also help children, teens and families participate in local YMCA programs.
“The YMCA’s ‘Invest in Youth’ campaign is the primary source of funds to provide financial assistance for individuals and subsidies for programs,” said Suzanne Barrett, Zumba instructor at the Marysville YMCA. “It’s recognized as the YMCA’s largest program for volunteers, and it establishes a base of donors that are involved, informed and committed to the YMCA.”
Barrett explained that the Snohomish County YMCA “makes every effort” to ensure that YMCA programs and memberships remain available, regardless of age or financial hardship, and encouraged community members to challenge family members, friends, neighbors and coworkers to join in the Zumba-thon with them.
Pledge forms are available at the Marysville YMCA front desk, and you can call the YMCA at 360-651-1605 for more information.
