92nd Street Church dedicates new auditorium on March 18

MARYSVILLE — Dennis Niva, minister for the 92nd Street Church of Christ, announced that on Sunday, March 18, the congregation will celebrate the dedication of their new facility.

“The new building facility was built by Leifer Development, and Steve Leifer was the general contractor for the building,” Niva said. “Volunteers from the congregation also put in  many hours of labor. This has been a long project. There have been many hurdles and challenges to deal with, especially in financing.”

Niva explained that, at the time they were looking for a loan to complete the building, a number of banks were being closed and taken over by the federal government. He considers them fortunate to to have found the Church Development Fund, which works with conservative churches in assisting with their building projects. At the dedication program, Bob Scott from the CDF will serve as a speaker.

“Our new facility is handicapped-accessible, all one level and is available to rent for special occasions,” Niva said. “In addition to the 300-seat auditorium, there is also an event center which can accommodate approximately 160 people for seminars, meetings and other events.”

A large screen is available in the event center for PowerPoint presentations, and catering can be provided from light lunches, simple receptions or complete dinners.

“We have already hosted a few organizations’ company parties, as well as funeral receptions,” Niva said. “If anyone is interested in scheduling an event at our facility, call the office at 360-653-2578, and we will be happy to schedule a time to show you the facility and discuss the price list.”

The day will begin with a regular Bible study session at 9:30 a.m., followed by the morning worship at 10:30 a.m. Niva will serve as the main speaker. After services, the church will sponsor a catered dinner for everyone, which will include roast pig and turkey. At 2 p.m., hymns will be sung, and the dedication program will begin at 3 p.m. Refreshments will follow. Tours will be given if anyone wishes to see the full facility.

The 92nd street Church of Christ is located at 4226 92nd St. NE, just off State Avenue, in Marysville. It is the merger of two congregations, the Seven Lakes Church of Christ and the Marysville Church of Christ. The merger occurred in 2005 and the new name of the 92nd Street Church of Christ was established.

The Church of Christ is a non-denominational, non-instrumental congregation, and focuses on positive preaching and Bible studies. A cappella singing is used in the worship services and all can participate.

“This dedication Sunday is a special day for our congregation because, for many of us, it is the completion of a plan that was developed more than 26 years ago,” Niva said. “We are happy and pleased for this facility to be complete and we invite the public to come share this day with us.”

If you have any questions or would like to RSVP for the dinner, call the church office at 360-658-2578. More information on the 92nd Street Church is on the web at www.92ndstchurchofchrist.org. The Sunday sermon is also recorded on the web.
