Applicants sought to fill vacancy on Marysville’s Planning Commission

MARYSVILLE — Mayor Jon Nehring is seeking individuals interested in filling a vacancy on the Marysville Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission appointee will fill the seat that becomes open when longtime commissioner Deidre Kvangnes steps down in September, a position she has held since her appointment in June 2001.The successful nominee would be appointed by the Mayor to a six-year term.

Applicants must reside within city limits. The seven-member Planning Commission is an advisory board to the Mayor and City Council on issues such as land use, critical areas and shoreline management planning, and long-range planning issues. The commission meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday each month in City Hall, 1049 State Ave. Other meetings may be scheduled as necessary.

Mayor Jon Nehring encourages citizens to apply to volunteer their time, leadership and expertise in civic, meaningful way.

“Serving on committees like the Planning Commission is a great way for citizens to become involved in the decision-making process that helps improve quality of life and plans for the future of our community,” Nehring said.
