Zimmerman Trail reopens

ARLINGTON – City maintenance crews have reopened Zimmerman Trail after damage caused by winter storms forced it to close for four months.

Crews completed replacement of the long stairway treads and installed temporary hand railings last week at the trail off of 204th Street that connects the Crown Ridge Boulevard and Farmstead neighborhoods, city officials said.

The main feature of the 0.4-mile trail is a steep wooden staircase that is great for fitness routines, they said.

City board vacancies

ARLINGTON – The city is seeking residents to fill vacancies on the Civil Service Commission and Airport Commission.

The Civil Service Commission meets the first Monday of each month. The board sets the rules for the selection, appointment and employment of the City’s police officers, police department staff, firefighters and fire department staff. They are also responsible for monitoring the hiring and promotional processes for these employees.

The Airport Commission is responsible for operating and regulating the Arlington Municipal Airport, subject to Council approval. The Airport Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month.
