SMOKEY POINT — At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 4, Arlington Police responded to a robbery reportedly committed with a revolver at the Smokey Point McDonald’s restaurant, located at 3529 172nd St. NE.

When Arlington Police arrived, the McDonald’s day-shift manager reported that, as she was entering her vehicle, she was approached by a Hispanic male who opened her car door and demanded the day’s deposit from the restaurant. The suspect pointed a small, dark-colored revolver at the victim, and repeatedly demanded the day’s deposit, and the victim repeatedly told the suspect that she did not have the day’s deposit. After asking and being told repeatedly that the victim did not have any money, the suspect reached into the vehicle and proceeded to search the victim’s purse. Finding no money, the suspect threw the purse back into the victim’s vehicle, and ran eastbound away from the McDonald’s.

Arlington and Marysville police searched the area with Snohomish County Sheriff’s personnel and an Everett Police K-9, but they were unable to locate the suspect.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 20-30 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, with dark hair, no facial hair and dark eyes. The suspect was wearing an off-white T-shirt, with a dark design on the front, and blue jeans. The victim also reported that the suspect was wearing what looked like a white T-shirt on his head, and that he spoke with an accent, possibly Spanish.

The Smokey Point McDonald’s restaurant immediately changed its deposit practices after this incident. The restaurant will now be using an armed money courier service to transport all deposits.
