MARYSVILLE — One man is in custody and a second man turned himself in to Marysville Police after being wanted in connection with a Jan. 27 assault of a woman outside of a 7-Eleven store in Marysville.

Mikhail P. Shutov turned himself in at the Marysville Public Safety Building on Feb. 7. He has since been booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment, and is being held on $100,000 bail. Marysville Police and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies, acting on information discovered during their investigation, took suspect Kevin D. Stagner into custody without incident a day earlier in Lynnwood, according to Marysville Police Cmdr. Ralph Krusey. Stagner is being held on an unlawful imprisonment charge, with bail set at $50,000.

The assault occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Jan. 27 when the suspects and a 40-year-old Marysville woman, who had asked for a ride earlier and knew Stagner, pulled into the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at the corner of State Avenue and Grove Street. When the victim tried to exit the truck, a struggle ensued. As she tried to get away, she was struck on the back of the head with a handgun, which discharged, but did not strike her or anyone else, Krusey said.

The victim sustained a three-inch cut to her head and was transported to the Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus for treatment.

Police were able to positively identify Shutov when he dropped several items, including his wallet, as the two men fled the scene. The suspects’ truck and the handgun have also been retrieved.
