TULALIP — A 25-year-old Marysville man was booked into Snohomish County Jail Sept. 1 on suspicion of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and second-degree assault in connection with a home invasion robbery that happened the morning of Aug. 23 in the 8400 block of 27th Ave. NE on the Tulalip reservation.
Bail was set at $250,000 after a neighbor’s video footage helped detectives from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office identify two male suspects, who could be seen on tape parking a white Cadillac and a pickup truck in a neighborhood roughly half a mile from the home that was robbed, shortly before the robbery. The tape showed the two men leaving in the truck and returning less then 15 minutes later, with one of the men putting items in the trunk of the Cadillac. The truck, which had been reported stolen out of Marysville, was abandoned and the men drove off in the Cadillac.
Detectives reported that a tattoo on the inside of the Marysville suspect’s arm appears to match a tattoo seen on the videotape.
According to court papers, detectives believe the two male suspects were attempting to target a specific house to demand drugs, but entered the wrong one instead.
The two suspects went into the house at about 7 a.m. where a teenage girl was asleep inside. She was a visitor at the house, not a resident. The homeowners were asleep in a nearby building on the property. The female homeowner walked into the main house as the robbery was happening. The suspects were armed with a rifle and a handgun and threatened to hurt the two women, but no one was injured.
According to court papers, the girl said that one of the suspects asked where the “bag of dope” was, and told police that she feared for her life.
The suspects stole two laptop computers and cell phones from the house and fled in the pickup truck. Neighbors spotted two men removing items from the stolen pickup and putting them into a second vehicle.
A Lake Stevens police officer recalled a white Cadillac matching the robbery description at a home in the 9100 block of 94th Drive SE in that city. Detectives got a search warrant, searched the house and recovered items stolen in the robbery in Marysville.
