MARYSVILLE – The Marysville School Board will decide Tuesday night what to do with the Marysville-Pilchuck High School cafeteria.

Since the tragic shooting there in October, many community members have urged the school district to tear it down.

On Feb. 17, the board is being asked to approve a pre-design phase for cafeteria replacement. That would be followed by design, bid and award, construction and acceptance phases.

Also at the board meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at 4220 80th St. NE, the board will vote on a resolution to extend superintendent Becky Berg’s contract another year. It also will vote on a resolution to refinance $10 million in bonds in an effort to save money on interest. Also, it will vote on an item to commemorate Black History Month.

It also will vote on update a number of policies, including: sexual harassment, homeless students, student records, public access, complaints concerning staff, contests and promotions, and advertising and schools.

Principal Sharon Anderson will give an update on Grove Elementary and national board certified teachers will be recognized.

In the workshop prior to the meeting, Principal Terri Kaltenbach will give an update on Arts & Tech High School, and there will be an update on special education.
