MARYSVILLE — A bone that was discovered near the Marysville Cemetery at approximately 9:30 a.m. Feb. 22 has been confirmed as human, according to Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux.
Lamoureux explained that the bone, which was determined to be a femur by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office, was found in the wooded areas on the property of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville, in 88th Street, by a groundskeeper for the church.
“The Medical Examiner has positively identified it as human, and said that it appears to be old,” Lamoureux said. “No other bones were found in the area, so this appears to be isolated.”
Lamoureux acknowledged that the Marysville Police Department is still waiting on the full report from the Medical Examiner before he can even speculate on how they will proceed.
“We’re just waiting to get that word,” Lamoureux said. “That report will dictate our course of action.”
