Busichio, Albano named students of month

MARYSVILLE — Frankie Busichio and Juliana Albano have been named the Marysville Soroptimist Students of the Month for December of 2008.

MARYSVILLE — Frankie Busichio and Juliana Albano have been named the Marysville Soroptimist Students of the Month for December of 2008.

Busichio has a 3.85 cumulative GPA and has taken college algebra, AP literature, AP comparative politics, AP language and comp, calculus, and chemistry. He received a Scholar Athlete Award in ninth grade at Marysville Junior High School and has accumulated 25 college credits to date.

Busichio has participated on the basketball team since ninth grade, played on the basketball team since 10th grade, played on the football team during ninth and 10th grade, and played on the soccer team during ninth grade. He’s been an active member of Honor Society since 11th grade, and participated in baby-sitting nights twice during 10th grade. He’s a member of the Biotechnology Club and an “avid fan of all M-P sports.”

Busichio has taken part in monthly community service events as part of the Marysville United Methodist Church Youth Group, including Operation Night Watch and Operation Marysville Community Christmas, as well as events in support of the Marysville Community Food Bank, the Everett Gospel Mission, the Everett Women’s Shelter and the Marysville Care Center. His summer mission trips have included Rathdrum, Idaho, in 2005; Gulfport, Miss., in 2006 for hurricane and flood relief; and Jinotepe, Nicaragua, in 2007 to work at an orphanage.

Busichio has been involved in the Big Buddy program, mentoring a third-grade student once a week at Pinewood Elementary during 11th grade, and a fourth-grade student at Shoultes Elementary this school year. He’s also participated in YGLTP since 11th grade, as well as the Freshman Mentoring Program.

Albano has been a National Honor Society member and a National Society of High School Scholars member for two years each. Her varsity letters include Marysville-Pilchuck High School Girls Soccer for one year, M-PHS Girls Tennis for two years, and the M-PHS Marching Band and Wind Ensemble for two years. She’s been a solo and ensemble competition state qualifier one year and a solo and ensemble competition participant for three years. She made Western Washington University admissions with distinction, and is a Pacific Lutheran University Honor Band nominee and participant for spring of this year.

Albano has been involved in M-PHS C-Team Girls Soccer, JV Girls Soccer, Varsity Soccer and C-Team Girls Tennis for one year each, and Varsity Tennis for two years. She’s spent four years as a member of the M-PHS Marching Band and Wind Ensemble, and two years as a member of Random Acts of Kindness for Everyone. She’s served two years each in National Honor Society and the M-PHS Freshman Mentor Program, and chaired this year’s M-PHS Martin Luther King Jr. assembly. She’s also worked as a concession stand employee for M-PHS fall and winter sports.

Albano has served one year each as a Word of Life Lutheran Church Youth Group member, an assistant coach for U-12 Recreational Girls Soccer Team, and a Providence charity auction and banquet volunteer. She’s done service projects for two years each as part of Honor Society and RAKE, and has been a cancer center volunteer at Children’s Hospital.

Albano will be leading a woodwind quintet for solo and ensemble competition this year. She was named the Aldo Outlet Employee of the Month for April of 2008, and served as the Force FC and Pacific Premier FC Team Captain for two years.
