Festival of Trees a special event

TULALIP – The 32nd Annual Festival of Trees is next week, featuring decorated trees and wreaths. Each year, thousands of community members take part in the Festival of Trees – from volunteers, to sponsors, to attendees – to raise funds for Providence Children’s Services. This week-long celebration takes place at Tulalip Resort. Opening Night is Nov. 28 from 6-9 p.m. Cost is $65 per person. There will be dancing, live music by the Dusty 45’s, buffet dinner, cocktails, a photo booth, raffle and silent auction. Community Day is Nov. 29 from 1-6 p.m. There will be local choirs, visits with Santa and holiday crafts at the free Open House. The Gala Dinner & Live Auction is Dec. 1 from 6-10 p.m. Cost is $250 a person. Event includes cocktail reception, hosted bar, silent wine auction, three-course dinner, and a live auction. The Teddy Bear Breakfast is Dec. 2 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Dance to the music of Tim Noah. Cost is $30. The Festival of Trees benefits Children’s Services at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. Its Children’s Center serves more than 350 children and their families every week. It provides care to children born with medical conditions or those who face challenges stemming from illness or injury, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.

Help fill 600 Christmas wishes

ARLINGTON – Businesses and service clubs throughout Arlington and Darrington have partnered to fulfill “A Christmas Wish” for 600 children. They are collecting names of children who need gifts from the Arlington Food Bank, Arlington Boys & Girls Club, state Department of Social and Health Services, Kids Kloset, Apple Pre-School, the Arlington Community Resource Center, and the Darrington Family Support and Resource Center. You can help by donating money or an unwrapped gift. The Boys & Girls Club, Arlington Grocery Outlet, 7 Lakes Dental, American Legion Post 76 and Symmetry Chiropractic will be accepting unwrapped gifts through Dec. 15. Banks and credit unions throughout Arlington and Darrington will have giving trees where you can choose a tag to fulfill a wish. You can also make a monetary donation to be put toward buying a gift. Have breakfast with Santa

ARLINGTON – The Arlington Education Foundation is hosting its Second Annual Santa Breakfast Dec. 2. Participants can have pictures taken with Santa while sharing wish lists, enjoy a pancake breakfast, make holiday crafts, sip hot cocoa from the hot chocolate bar and also see Tinkerbell and Captain America. The event will be at President’s Elementary School, 505 E. 3rd St. There will be two seatings, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 each. Ages 2 and younger are free. Huge nativity festival set

SMOKEY POINT – Hundreds of nativity displays from around the world will be at the Arlington Nativity Festival at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the sixth year. The free event from 3-9 p.m. Dec. 8-10 features crèche displays, a live nativity and a showcase of art in the “The Living Christ” exhibit. Activities and crafts for children and kid-friendly nativity pieces are available in the Children’s Nativity Room. Kids and their families are also invited to dress in period costumes for pictures. Local musicians will be performing. The Arlington High School Arie and Flight Choirs will be joining in the singing, with their performance at 4 p.m. Dec. 10. They will be followed by the Arlington Stake Youth Choir from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The final concert will be the Arlington Stake Choir starting at 7 p.m. The community is invited to share its nativities at the event. The Coats warm up holiday season

LAKEWOOD – The Coats vocal band will headline the 4th Annual Holiday Show Dec. 8 at Lakewood High School. The LHS jazz choir “Swingbeat” will open for them. Tickets are $20 in advance at thecoatsholiday2017.brownpapertickets.com. They will be $23 at the door. The fundraiser concert is sponsored by North Lakewood Music Booster Organization to support music at LHS. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7:10 at 17023 11th Ave NE, Arlington.
