Kirkland Court Administrator Tracy Jeffries was sworn in by the Mayor on May 14 and has started her new job at City Hall in the newly-created position of Assistant Administrative Services Director. The new job combines the duties of the City Clerk and parts of the Utility Billing Supervisor position.
Jeffries has worked the past 11 years for the city of Kirkland as the Court Administrator, a role that also carried the responsibility of managing court services for the cities of Clyde Hill, Medina, Hunts Point, Yarrow Point and, until recently, Mercer Island and Newcastle. Prior court experience also included Court Accounting Supervisor and Court Clerk with Kitsap County Court based in Port Orchard.
The Administrative Services Director job will take her in a different direction. She is primed for the new opportunity.
This is a whole new career direction for me, there are enough similarities between this job and my court administrator experience to help me hit the ground running, said Jeffries. I am familiar enough with city government, budgets and case flow management. Im eager to get up to speed in making the most of this new opportunity.
She thanked Mayor Dennis Kendall, Chief Administrative Officer Mary Swenson, Finance Director Sandy Langdon and the City Council for their consideration.
Under the auspices of the Finance Department, the Assistant Administrative Services Director is responsible for City Clerk duties including maintaining council minutes and records, catalogs and maintaining all official city files and records, publishing all required notices, and preparing council agendas. The position also oversees utility billing services. The department provides essential support services to the public, Council, Chief Administrative Officer and all departments to help them achieve their goals.
In her spare time, Jeffries rides BMW motorcycles. She and her two Boston Terriers currently live in Kirkland.
