MARYSVILLE The city of Marysville is proud to announce that Alice Corsino of Marysville will serve as Grand Marshal for the 19th Annual Merrysville for the Holidays Electric Lights Parade on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Corsino, an active, longtime volunteer and community ambassador, was selected because of her enthusiastic commitment to the Marysville community. For the past 10 years, she has served as the Ken Baxter Senior/Community Centers front desk receptionist.
In fact, she was the first volunteer on the very first day of the Senior Centers opening, and our first 1,000-hour volunteer, a distinction she managed to reach in just five years, said Maryke Burgess, Ken Baxter Senior Center Coordinator. This year marks the Centers 10th anniversary.
Over the years, Alice has been a smiling face at the center who has greeted visitors and helped them register for classes and activities, scheduled appointments and assisted guests in receiving much-needed services.
Corsino is a Seattle-born traveler who spent her childhood in Chicago, then lived for many years in Rochester, N.Y. Corsino spent some time as a professional dancer in her younger years, then went to work for the U.S. Department of the Treasury processing War Bonds when she returned to Chicago. Her interests include yoga, swimming, bowling and surfing.
Some of the proudest moments in her life have been traveling on a five-country tour through Europe and taking a glorious cruise to Hawaii, Corsino said.
City staff recommended Alice for this honor after years of selfless service and dedication. Said Corsino, I am extremely honored to be the citys Grand Marshal and cannot wait to wave to the people she I care about so much the citizens of Marysville.
