ARLINGTON — The body of a 23-year-old Marysville man, last seen sometime Aug. 2 in the Big Rock area of the Stillaguamish River, was recovered Aug. 4 in that same area by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office divers.

The Sheriff’s Office was contacted shortly before 10 p.m. Aug. 3 by Marysville Police who reported that the man was possibly in the Stillaguamish River.

Given the lack of visibility and exact location information, the Sheriff’s helicopter and divers had to wait until the morning of Aug. 4 to begin their search and recovery mission. However, search and rescue workers did a shoreline search late in the evening of Aug. 3 to see if they could find the man. They were joined by Tulalip Police and Tribal members, since the missing man is a Tribal member. Tulalip Tribal members continued with the ground search after search and rescue workers left.

On the morning of Aug. 4, the Sheriff’s Office helicopter flew over the area and the crew spotted a body in the river near Big Rock. Divers were called to recover the man.
