MARYSVILLE Thousands of Easter Eggs will be up for grabs April 7 at the city of Marysvilles annual Easter Egg hunt.
The free event runs from 10-11 a.m. at Jennings Memorial Park and is sponsored by the city, the Marysville Rotary and Grandview Village.
The event will be divided into three age groups, 0-2, 3-5 and 6-8, and each child can collect up to eight eggs. Only a limited number of children will be allowed in each area at a time and the eggs will be replenished to ensure that all children will have equal access to finding the eggs. Approximately 50 of the eggs will contain tickets for a prize.
The Marysville Rotary is one of the reasons why we are able to provide this great family event, said Recreation Coordinator, Kayla Flynn, of the Marysville Parks and Recreation Department. With Rotarys sponsorship we were able to buy the prizes and decorations. Grandview Village also donated large Easter baskets which will be used as prizes.
Flynn said the annual event also benefits greatly from the assistance of the Marysville-Pilchuck High School Leadership class which is providing approximately 15 students this year to help with the activities. Theyve been a tremendous help, Flynn said, noting that the Leadership Class students volunteer at a number of events throughout the year.
Flynn also said that there will be a professional balloon twister on hand to entertain the those in attendance. In addition, Marysville City Council member John Soriano, an accomplished twister himself, will be on hand with some of the students hes been working with in an after-school program to twist balloons into a variety of shapes and sizes. This gives the kids a very positive experience and a way to give to the community, Flynn said.
Representatives from the Marysville Community food Bank will also be on hand to collect food for the food bank.
